Many people know about Versailles 🏰 the most luxurious royal residence in Europe. But few have heard of the palace complexes for ordinary people 🏢, built of solid concrete 🏗️. These two architectural monstrosities are located 11 kilometres east of Paris. We'll head there 👀 to see them up close and find out what the Spanish architects' ambitious project turned into. Have they succeeded in creating utopian social housing? ✨
Duration: 🕛 3,5 - 4 hours Group capacity: 🧍up to 12 people Children: 👶 16+ Hoe it goes: 🚇 By train / walking Meeting point: 📍 At your hotel
Places we will visit:
The Abraxas Space: a grandiose residential complex reminiscent of a dystopian setting. Built in the 1980s, it was conceived as an alternative to the typical building, but it has turned into a gloomy concrete labyrinth. The ‘Hunger Games’ and ‘Brazil’ were filmed here, but in reality it's a home for thousands of people that rarely makes it onto tourist postcards
Picasso Arenas: locally nicknamed ‘Camembert’ for its cheese-shaped residential discs. Another architectural masterpiece whose courtyard is used to barter and consume illegal substances in broad daylight, with local guys ‘politely’ asking tourists for ‘no photos’ in these not-so-friendly courtyards
Tour Features: 1) Train tickets are included in the price of the tour. You do not need to reserve anything ! 2) Do not bring cash and valuables with you.
